Surgery to repair damaged eardrums is known as tympanoplasty. The tissue dividing your ear canal and your middle ear is called your eardrum (tympanic membrane). There is a hole in the tissue of your eardrum when it ruptures. Your eardrum's vibration, which may impair your hearing, is prevented by this hole.
An ENT Surgeon uses certain tissue from around the ear to repair this hole in the ear drum and to restore your hearing.
Depending on the size of the perforation, your surgeon may do the repair through a scar behind your ear or may even repair it through the ear canal using a microscope or endoscope, thus ensuring that there is no externally visible scar
